We always try to act responsibly as a business towards the environment. A few examples of this are as follows ...
- All of our team members work from home, removing the environmental overhead of having a dedicated office space and the impact of travel to that space.
- Business travel is kept to an absolute minimum, using electronic methods of communication instead where possible.
- We have built systems to process and store nearly all of our data electronically. Only a small amount of paper is used within the accounting function and we hope to remove this completely in the near future.
- Our systems run from a dedicated data centre. Through the latest virtualisation technology we are currently reducing the number of servers required to deliver our services and consequently drastically reducing our power usage.
Community ...
As AccSys matures we're looking for ways to act responsibly towards our community. We've recently trialled the sending of Christmas eCards for our customers. We didn't charge for the service but asked in return for a pledge of a charitable donation, in lieu of the cost saving of sending the eCards. In total £9,000 was pledged to both national and regional charities. Not only did the charities receive 100% of the charitable donation but it was also an environmentally friendly method of delivery. We aim to expand the service over the coming year to make it available to a wider number of businesses.
